Introvert Life

Let me try to tell you what it’s like for me to be extremely introverted your whole life and trying to make a business that requires interacting with people.

When I was a young girl, I rarely spoke. I just didn’t have anything to say. I wasn’t shy, I was just introverted. Many people think these two personality traits are the same but they are quite different. Although some people can be one or the other or both.

In my case, I just didn’t want to speak to people. I can’t really explain why. I wasn’t afraid. I just didn’t have anything to say to them. What I was, was a sponge. I listened intently to what people were saying and took it all in. I was an excellent listener.

Then one day, I was getting picked up to go to school by some classmates. When they got to my house, I wasn’t ready. I guess they thought I was taking too long and they drove off without me. I ran out to the driveway and started screaming expletives at them. Ever since then, I was able to speak my mind. I realized I did have something to say. Well, I’m not a therapist so I can’t recommend a solution for other people. Maybe just embrace the person you are and stop trying to be what other people want you to be. You only need a solution if there’s a problem and being yourself is never a problem. Just be proud of who you are.

My definition of extrovert/introvert is that extroverts prefer to have information going out and introverts prefer to have information coming in. That’s why I love school so much because I am constantly absorbing information. I am not shy, I have no problem talking to random strangers in the grocery store or getting up in front of a group to give a speech. I just prefer to be the student.

I also realized that even the most extroverted, narcissistic people in the world still have fear when making a cold call because we are all afraid of rejection. Some people say they aren’t or maybe just hide it better but that is human nature. One tip I got from a friend is to imagine the whole interaction in your mind and picture everything going smoothly and the person on the other end is super sweet and loves you and loves what you do and wants you to be successful and will pay whatever price you’re asking because you are that good. If you can visualize it, it will be just a little bit easier. Just remember that you are talking to another human being and we all have feelings and we want the best for each other.
